After a very long wait to put this beautiful airplane in the air, I was able to fly it yesterday. The weather was clear with a 15 mph cross wind. It seems we have a cross wind anytime we fly south of Atlanta. Some of my flying friends put their airplanes up to test the water.
The Taurus 4,s started up very quickly and after a short run up it would idle at 1800 RPM and 6800 on the high side. I am using a Pro-Zinger 24/8. This was the second time the engine has been run my me.
Everything checked out and with knees knocking I lined up on the runway. I advanced the throttle slowly and the airplane tracked straight down the runway and at 3/4 throttle was airborne. The climb out was very gentle and the turn to downwind was very smooth. I put in 2 clicks of up elev and one click of left aileron. I flew at half throttle to get the feel of the airplane. Vertical was very good and will be better as the engine gets more time. I did not try anything except climbs and steep turns and slow flight. It slows down very good for landing and I kept the speed up slightly due to wind and to not get slow and have a tip stall. The landing was very gentle. Everyone there said it looked and flew that a great airplane. The wind got to high for a second flight.
