Default gyro quality

hey folks,
I was just thinking to myself and couldnt help but ask; does gyro quality go with the 'you buy what you pay for' law? I see these hundreds of gyros on ebay ranging from $20-160, the functioning is almost identical. Is it the quality with which it is made or is it all these little factors like SMM Gyro Sensor, Remote Gain Function, Conductive Resin Case, etc..etc..etc.. that make the huge price range? Would buying a cheap gyro cause a malfunction later? would love to know,
cheers
