Default RE: U Can Do 3D

Did the FG tubes in the Fusion break??? I thought they ran the full length of the fuse? Any hoo, if you got another one, they must be pretty good. I have a little experience with profiles, built 2 Su Do Khoi kits, I also discovered that cutting channels in the sides was the way to route wires. I even had the fuel tank inside the wing root area, used 2 long brass tubes to protrude thru the leading edge balsa, then just fuel tubing to the engine. It was only 8oz. so it just fit.( it had fat wings) I loved that little bird, its what inspired Scottz to go 3-D & join our club. Its ironic that I lost that plane in a mid-air 10 yrs ago. I think I read in a thread that some are actually cutting the connectors off, fishing the wires only thru the hole, then re-solder. I can solder with the best of them, but will have to be pretty frustrated to go that length. You're right about each having their own traits, seems like you need at least 2-3 planes to get everything. The Velox is great, but doest do some of the things a Do will, & vice-versa with the Do. One thing about tail touching, there is a point you have to get past, its nerves, & nothing more, you need to get used to seeing your plane near the ground. Do it in steps if you have to, as long as you can hold a hover for lets say 15 seconds or more 10' & do it consistantly, then you know you are ready to get lower. I usually lose it a little each time I come down a few feet, I recover, get it stable, then cut the throttle again, & keep going down. Even if you dont tail touch, just hovering 1-3 ' was a whole new feeling for me, I knew I could touch after that.
