Wires are the only things 'intact' of the pack... Melted insulation and stuff though. I always make sure wires are clear, as i used to work on mainframes and networks...

possibly you pinched the wire at some point when installing the battery cover and the battery finally shifted into a position that allowed the wires to cross.
Only mention this cause my dx7 came with some insulation missing on the wires from a pinch at the factory.
