Odd that the 8ight felt loose and the Mugen didn't float your boat...that's almost contrary to the bulk of opinions I've collected trackside. I guess it has more to do with setup vs driving style as opposed to the innate differences in the kits.
You may very well be correct.....set-up does play a key role in how we drive our buggies....it's quite possible that the Losi I drove was not set-up in a fashion that well suited the way I like to drive.....the guy(losi) is a point and shoot slammer and loves to jam his way around the track....surprisingly enough I thought the 8ight was more of a precission driven buggy and wont perform well in th hands of a slammer....he does put some quick laps down but never the less I dont have any trouble finding my way around him..
The Mugen on the other hand....a very nice, sharp cutting, high end machine.....I tried several different set-ups and for some unbenounced reason to me...I couldnt put a finger on to why I just couldnt lay down the lap times...she was soild....had plenty of punch and cornered well...but the out of the box set-up on my 8.5 is just night and day for me.

Perhaps I thought when I switched from my Jammin CRT to a Mugen MBX5T that my driven skills would've increased like they did with the 5T over the CRT....I then proceeded to purchase an MBX5 buggy and drop my Jammin X1-CR for it.....maybe I was so use to the CR that I expected the instant results that the 5T gave me from the MBX5....but they didnt. I actually became a bit slower and lost what I had with my Jammin.....so off with the MBX5 and back to an OFNA....I considered going back to the CR but I thought I'd give the 8.5 a try and did....And Im glad I did....the only thing that can keep pace is a an RC8...he's running a EB Mods V-Spec,while I turn a stock V-Spec...but I think a change is the future....maybe my CEO PowerMods P5 will be dropped in there.
