If you have metal in the engine it usually comes from the bearings unless the engine ingested the throttle shaft spring or choke/throttle plate screws. One other possibility is that the cylinder had excess casting flash at the bottom that broke loose and traveled. Unless you removed the rod from the crank you cannot completely inspect the rod bearing. Wrist pin bearing has to be removed as well for a full inspection.
