RE: My first snow fly
In one of my former clubs we used to have an annual snow fly - they are a blast. Guys who live in the south sure don't know what they are missing not being able to fly off the snow. One of the thing we did that I thought was the most fun was to set cones up about 200 ft apart and have two planes cone race - start with one lap, and each round added another lap. The object is to stay on the ground - if you get airborne you get a DQ! (tail draggers where allowed to raise the tail, but couldn't get the mains off the snow.) If you flipped you where allowed to restart the engine but had to repeat that lap. Gets really interesting with fresh snow and having to dodge foot prints to keep from flipping over.
