Just bought Han 9 Hellcat and was going to put OS91 in it .Now the engine mounts at a 45 deg angle inverted .My question is if you have had experience with this plane what the heck did you do for a muffler
The P47 was the same way up front.
The usual way is to put a Pitts on the sucker and live with it. I've got a couple of round cowled 60size with OS91s in them. All but the P47 have the engine at 9o'clock with a pitts on it. They all had room enough that the heads did not stick through the cowl. Only openings were for the glowplug and the muffler pipes.
The P47 on the other hand was done just because I was tired of buying Pitts mufflers and not using the supplied muffler, which is supposed to be worth a fair piece of change. The OS91 muffler is a long sucker. OK, it's a long blower. And I wound up having to create room for it in the forward part of the fuselage and into the lower fuselage bulge that's added to the lower center of the wing. It was worth the effort. Once.
I'm doing a H9 Corsair now and have the engine at 9o'clock and a Pitts on it.
