Another little thing to learn. and that is, if the plane is headed toward the ground, up elevator might not be your friend. If the plane is making a gentle turn and you pull a little up elevator it maintains your height. If the plane is banked steeply and you pull up elevator, it just makes you turn tighter and go down faster!
The aptly named Death Spiral! Always remember, correct the turn first, then pull out of the dive.
