Another way to reinforce the turtle deck. It didn't sheet mine as I was looking to keep the weight down. I just used spruce stringers instead of the balsa ones that come in the kit. Also, do make the wing bays one shorter on each side. Since this is your first one you will never know the difference. It does speed up the roll rate slightly, on landings the change was so significant that you could hardly notice. Can still float mine all the way in until it sets herself on the ground. AS far as the canopy, just cut it in half on the molded line and turn it around backwards and it fits nice. Excellent plane no matter what you do to it.. As far as I'm concerned with additional strengthening it really isn't needed. I've hit so hard that my gears bent up through the wings and just behind the spar and destroyed about 3 ribs on each side. I was on vacation with about a week to go so i just Scotch taped the covering and flew it. Still mine regular flier.
