Hey Big Prop,
Glad you like the large scale "Z" - it's mine. What kind of info are you looking for? Basics -
> Scratch built from Hostetler 33% "Z" plans
> Has a Zenoah GT-80 'under the hood'
> Used the custom "Ron's Gear" landing gear as laid out on the plans..... although the whole landing gear/wheelpant installation took about 3 weeks!
> Currently weighs in around 31lbs. Considering DuraLites to shave off about 7 ounces. I like the idea of saving the 7 ounces, but the $300 to do it raises the question of how important is that 7 ounces! Also got a pair of SlimLine mufflers on the way - shouldn't be too much louder than the stock Zenoahs, but they'll save another 8-9 ounces.
> Covered in MonoKote, used Concept PPG Urethane paint on the fiberglass parts.
> No dummy engine that big commercially available.... made some 'plugs' and vacu-formed my own.... not bad for a first effort of something that complex (mainly done canopies and small parts before).
That's pretty much the basics.... anything specifically you're looking to know? Drop me a line and ask, I'll see what I can do!
