Default RE: Looking for diesel aircraft engine info

Thanks Hobbsy, the more I think about it the more I wonder why I'm considering fixing something that ain't broke. I've got an old TT.46 in a Sig Rascal 40 that is a a fantastic flyer with power to spare, because of the many gallons of fuel, hours of flight time, numerous mishaps while on another plane (like dead center into a hedge fence post on take off !!) I sorta figured it was running on borrowed time, plus it's a real pain to start inverted so I bought another because I was so impressed with the first one.
I think the answer I got to my question earlier about how a diesel starts inverted, it tells me that since there is appearantly no improvement in starting inverted, (which I really don't think can be true because the glow plug beng upside down in a glow engine DOES make a difference, and I don't care what engine you have hydralic lock from flooding is a problem, force it and it will be broke) and since I refuse to use a starter (call me stubborn, if I can't tune it well enough to start with a chicken stick I don't want it) I guess I'll continue to use my Sch. 40 pipe cradle and start the TT with the plane upside down. Only have to do that for the first start of the day anyway.
Geez, I'm writing a book here, sorry. Thanks for your help, I think I've got the answers to my questions, who could ask for more. Merry Christmas, Dan
