Yeah, you can use a starter box on a pull start engine, just make sure it spins the right way and if it spins wrong it will break the pull starter assembly. The only problem I find with a starter box is they are really expensive, around 80-90 dollars and then another 30 for the charger. You probably can find one for 30-60 dollars on ebay though.
