RE: ElectricStar Question before 1st Flight???
I have the electristar, please see my earlier comments in the review thread by Greg Covey. The ESC that comes with the electristar is the Electrifly SS45D. It's capable of 45 amps with max 4 cell lipo and has dual series connectors hence the "D." The only programming that can be done with this ESC is the brake which should be off. You have no control over low voltage cutoff, the ESC is permanently set to have a LVC to 67% below what it sees when you first connect the battery. This means it is imperative to always connect a fully charged battery. With this said, you can fly 15 minutes at half throttle with the lipo option and about 10 minutes with the nimh option. Just like the instructions stress not to skip the balance plane part, make sure you get it balanced like it says and don't skip that step. I started with the nimh batteries but they just did not last long at all and took forever to charge. I wound up going with lipos and haven't been happier and if you feel like you are going to stay in the airplane hobby or already have lipo experience with cars then go for the lipos. You can even go with one 4 cell lipo and make a jumper for the extra connector.
I agree with others comments here, have someone with flying experience fly it first get it trimmed and then hand you the controls.
