Default RE: sts 28 starting problems

I don;t know if this is true or not, but I heard, the alum shim on the head is for break-in and needs to be removed after break-in to run right, but both of my STS are running fine with it in, so I don't know.

my STS 30 rev2 runs in the 290's and a little rich, but its fine, never had a problem starting it, my STS 21B runs is the 240 - 260 somtimes 270's and it starts when hot. the only thing I've seen on starting my STS engine, which I see strange, is they, well my 21B only starts when lean, but runs good when tad rich, but haven't noticed that on the 30.

and make sure there no air leaks.
