Welcome back. I also have just restarted after many years off. flew control line until 73 then started with a rcm basic trainer with a .19 and a mrc 4 channel. Total cost about $600.00 and I was only making about $450 a month as a ssg in the army. Moved on to aeromasters etc etc. Kept flying whereever I went until I retired from the military in 87. Am very glad to be back but I have a lot to learn or relearn whatever. Since I have a 21 year old Funster from a kit , I am puting together a Funster arf from Hobby Lobby. Also bought a spectrum 7 ch 2.4 gig radio. I will welcome any help on these radios as they are a lot more complex than my old 7ch Futaba FM wide channel. I used to fly on 75.640 green/white.
