Is it cold where your at right now? cold+plastic=fragile. Front bumpers are supposed to break thats what they are made for. But having your chassis split apart is weird! there is about 1000 screws holding that friggin rc together. As far as durability goes I would have to say, no these are not the most durable trucks (i'll probably be thrown under the coals for saying that). Stuff breaks on mine all the time. people will say "hey just get Tamiya parts" well i say well shoulda bought a Tamiya in the first place. Yes they are fun to modify, hop up, and tinker with but if you are looking for a fast, reliable truck... well to answer your question... yes you did get a lemon... you got a stock Bonzer. But hey you'll have fun hopping it up... but wouldn't you rather hop up something better? (Losi, Associated, Kyosho, HPI, Tamiya, Traxxas, Duratrax and the list goes on)
like Phelansa said on the 1st page of this thread "I think the Bonzer is a bit like having a very large girlfriend. Much fun to play with..... As long as your friends dont see you :-p"
Don't hate... the truth hurts...[&o]
I would flame you but my Dragon is on holidays..
The thing is pilsner6981... Tamiya Never Made the Bonzer... and you will never get a more durable RC for the price of a bonzer... People have to stop comparing the Bonzer to anything.. its unique... yes, its Quality is some time questionable but for the Price of a Tyco toy, you are getting an Offroad truck that is hobby spec and is rebuildable..
As for the whole rather spend money on Hopping up another brand... If you had that sort of money to begin with then you would never have gotten a Bonzer...
The Bonzer is what it is... a Cheap Fun truck that you can have fun with , without Breaking the Bank... the fact that the Bonzer is not made by a main stream company doesnt matter as it shares parts with a Main stream player. The Tamiya TL-01 and the Wild Dagger..
Something that no other RC Truck has.. I know Guys who have Bought HBX Lancers and have kitted them out with every Alloy option under the sun with Every Bling Bit you can get for the same sort of money you would spend on just getting an Original Tamiya TL-01...
I understand you bought a Bonzer and yes it broke.... but I know people who Buy E-Savages and things break on them too but at least with a Bonzer you can rebuild the whole thing for the price of 1 HPI part..
Best thing about the Bonzer, If you don't like it, change it.. it costs like the same Price as a Front Bumper and a Shell off a E-savage to convert a Bonzer from a Monster Truck, to a Truggy, To a Buggy to a Street racer to a drifter... its so Adaptable!!!
If HPI ever release an E-savage for the Price of a Bonzer... then I would change in an instant, but for the moment.... I can't see it happening and while my Bonzer has 4 Wheels and the Ability to climb over Grass, Plough through mud and Go through Flooded roads... I will keep using it...
When TL-01 and Wild Dagger parts become too hard to find... then my Bonzer will be shelf queened... as it has done what no other RC Truck has done yet... Kept me happy!!!
