If we are going to split hairs erazz then most of the engines on the market today are NOT an original design and innovation. All engines today are derived from the original KJ66 developed by Jesus and Kurt.
As a point though can you tell me what the Jet Joe 1800 is a 'copy' of please?
I'm not a patent lawyer so I don't really know when it stops being a different design and starts being a copy.
Though todays engines might look the same they are not. There are subtle differences and the manufacturers work hard on improving their design. Each one of them has taken slightly different approaches and solutions according to their way of thinking. JJ is different since he bought the plans for the Wren and simply manufactured it without a license. This is called [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plagiarism]Plagiarism[/link] and it is what sets him apart form other turbine makers IMHO.
I'll say this again. As long as they make cheap engines people will buy. All I'm saying is to not expect me to like it or admire them for it.
