Default Engine to Exhaust position

Guys,

First time with installing an engine that uses a exhaust pipe system. I know that there is some requirement for a "air gap" between the rear of the engine and the inlet of the pipe. I am new to this and would like some input. Currently I have the pipe assembly installed in the "rear half" of the airframe with the front of it just aft of the separation bulkheads between the front and rear fuselage halves. It is as far forward as it can go without serious surgery.

The engine itself has a load of room to move forward and aft....

Thoughts on position???
