Default RE: Heli lights

I just did a quick mod today for a search light. I bought a gimbaled search light from mack marine and wired it to a female jst plug, then i took a bought a 3 cell AAA battery holder from circuit city for $3 and wired it to a switch with a male jst on the other side.

The reason i did it this way was because I couldn't find any led search lights, they might be out there but couldn't find any. The light from mack marine cost $10 and the battery holder was $3 (the jst plugs i had sitting around) so the total cost was $13. The reason i'm doing it this way is because the light works off 3v and I've got 3 x 1.2v rechargables for 3.6v which is ok but i know i'd blow the bulb if i ran it off the receiver at 6v. i thought of using 2 1.5v alkaline batteries but the 3 aaa rechargeables weight less.
