I also have a Wren SS and had been debating between mounting it in the tail vs. conventional location. The Wren weighs a few oz. more than a P-60 or Super Bee. After weighing the major components and taking some measurements I concluded that after balancing, the plane would come out heavier with the engine in the tail.

I also noticed that Skymaster's 1/8 F-16 recommended CG is 135-145 mm. vs. FEJ's at 125-135 mm. Based on that and Cermark's 145 mm. It seems like FEJ is biased toward being nose heavy.

Keith,

You might be the first to fly one of these outside of the factory team. You should balance it with the UAT full. Also without any better information I'd be inclined to use 135 mm. for the first flight. Based on your experience I plan on mounting the engine and all equipment as far forward as practical, and I'm sure I'll have a couple of nicads in the nose.

We're all very interested in how this plays out.

Hello,
Yes..and.... no....

turbine in center location : the FEJ tail pipe is about 500 grs... = dead weight
turbine in tail position :no tail pipe..... but maybe 500grs of ballast in the nose for good balancing = dead weight

in conclusion, it's probably same total weight, but with super bee or wren SS or P60 in the tail, no lost of trust (no tail pipe) and more space in the fuse, to add tank, or smoke..etc..

it must experiment this two solution.
For me, it will be a wrenn SS or simjet 1200 (8 kg, 18 lbs) or merlin 90 in tail..,

Thanks
