Default RE: Required Servo Torque

ORIGINAL: j_blaze

My Truggy steering servo has 403 oz of torque at 6V JR 8711 $140.00
so do you even need a servo saver at that torque? or do you just tighten it down all the way?
Im using the JR 9000T 320 oz. of torque and had was having problems with the aluminum servo arm bending every time I raced. At first, I thought it was t-boned by another car on the track so I installed the plastic side guards to protect the arm. I raced it and once again, the arm was twisted. It turns out the the servo saver was too tight and the torque of the servo was bending the arm if I landed a jump crooked on the front wheels. I'm impressed that a years worth of beating that servo and it hasn't stripped out the gears. You really do get what you pay for.
