Mikedenilin; USSCAT; Jetmodeller; Joeflyer and the gang—what’s up…?

Your opinions (pos/neg); experience; known facts; etc please…

First off, I live a few miles from the MD office—I contacted them shortly after they opened—wanted to see this NEW company’s product before I bought—listening to you guys—makes me wish I bought at the intro price. Their F-16 and an Artes Falcon; 22 lbs isn’t as good as 28 but better than 19 – powered vertical is what I like.

I’ve a Yellow Aircraft F-15 ARF—had it exactly a year this month and it’s still in the box—it’s an awesome bird—just too lazy to build. It’s turbine is a 36 lb Simjet Nexus—it too a year old and in the box. [&o]

I’ve flown for years to include Byron’s F-16 DF back in the 80’s while stationed in Japan (Air Force). I should have been flying turbines by now—again—lazy or scared to build. That has led me to ordering TBM’s Shokjet—one of you guys or another obviously hates TBM and think the Shokjet will “rot” on the shelf with their “exclusive” selling of FEJs. A nameless turbine friend of mine wouldn’t buy toilet paper from TBM – he hates him – ol well, everyone can’t be pleased.

Would any of you suggest a turbine trainer such as the Shokjet? I really don’t think I need it but at merely $200, why not. You guys and all of the rest obviously didn’t train on a turbine trainer, for there was none; I’m sure you just jumped into your SM, YA, TamJets, and away you flew. But if one existed when you began, do you think you would have opted for such a trainer?

Reading this tread, I’m convinced that I will obtain their F-16; already have a $4800 quality F-15 which doesn’t include the plumbing: servos; UAT; bla, bla, bla. $4800 includes all options and full armament; operational canopy and speed brakes; 6 retract doors; etc. One sweet bird but for now, it’s nothing resting in the box. But at $4800, I could have bought 4 FEJs—one each: F-15; 16; Rafale and the AT3.[&o][][:@]

I was looking at SM, but noticed that the US dealers are dwindling away—something is going on with SM products.

I’d like to have a few war bird turbines, but I’m not rich like most of you; especially you, Mikedenilin. But one thing for sure, as soon as Yellow releases their long anticipated twin turbine F-14; I will be right there. Their playing around with different wings last I heard. I estimate with all the plumbing—it will run $20K easy—gotta have it…

Anyways, your opinions on the Shokjet; your love/hate of your FLJ baby; my choice of turbine; anything I’ve said. I ultimately do whatever “I” think as I’m sure you too, but opinions from real knowledgeable people are at times, priceless.

Thanks in advance…

Hello,

I would go with the F-16 as trainer all the way. It is very nice looking warbird and a great trainer, very forgiving. My opinion is that I would not waste my time with a trainer sport plane. The trainer may give you a false sense of security. Good luck.
