Do not alter the length of your receiver antenna. Many R/C models have the receiver antenna contained completely within the airframe. If your airframe is made of carbon fiber or is of sheet metal, then you will have to run the antenna outside of the model to get good reception. If the model is wood, fiberglass, or foam, then you'll have no problems, because those materials are transparent to radio waves.
