The answer is yes but no. The engine would run, but would shortly fail due to lack of lubrication. The gasoline engines we are doing Gas/Glow with have needle bearings on the rod, and therefore can survive with much less oil content in the mix than a glow engine with it's bushing rod. You could run an engine on Gas/Glow, but you would have to increase the oil content, and you would still have the mess on the airplane. The only thing you would gain would be better fuel economy, at the cost of a little power.

Note that when glow engines are advertised as having bearings, they speak of the main bearings, not the rods which are bushed.
