Losing The Experts and Their Knowledge
We lost another expert from the engine forum today. Al Lewis went the way of Ralph Cunningham and ended his RCU membership. The reason? According to him his post for the AMA forum was moderated before it even hit the board. So I suppose over moderation is the reason.
I'm another that may be on the short list for those to receive moderated status. If and when it happens I'll follow Ralph and Al. Who will be next and who will you folks be left with? Will it be Pe Reivers? Dick Hansen? Altavillan? RTK? Who then?
Rules have become much more stringent than they have ever been. I believe that somehow the management believes this will improve this forum. I believe the reverse is true and will drive people away. Slowly at first, but increasing in pace as conversation becomes more restricted. The end result will be an exodus of advertisers to other sites, following the membership that was divorced from this site.
If you folks like it this way, all you have to do is nothing. In doing nothing you will lose much in the way of accumulated engine knowledge and experience, and have nothing but your own devices to turn to. No forum is anything without it's participants.
