Default RE: Electric Dynamite Compatibilities

The "dynamite tazer T12" that I got says this in the instructions: input voltage: 4-cell(4.8v) to 6-cell(7.2v) DC. So you are capped at 7.2v but you can use lesser batteries(why?).
My motor arrived today that I was told would be foolish to put in my truck. It is a Trininity Speed Gem Pro Nitronite 12 turn double modified motor, 9256. I really want to use this motor since I actually have it. I am still trying to track down some good gearing combos for a 17-20t motor I've yet to get. My ESC can handle this motor, the question I really need to know is what 2 gears will make my truck haul without overloading it. I've read many posts that say you should just get a range of gears and use trial and error. If anyone has a motor similar to mine in their truck, let me know what you are using so I have an idea of what gearing to get. Thanks.
