To a point, but longer gets better at some point. The issue is that the antenna needs to be a length that corresponds to a wavelength of the frequency in question. IE, if your antenna is 1/4 wave, a little longer will be de-tuned, and be bad, but twice as long (half wave) will give a better signal . . . should be by about 3db (double the signal . . .) and so forth as you get longer.
Unfortunately, you can't tow two miles of wire, or we would have insane range . . . .

there is an optimum antennae length for each receiver and going either longer or shorter will gradually decrease the range or reception capability.
that's what i did it's twice as long
