it possibly could, but stock servos will burn out eventually no matter how much juice is being pumped through them. if it can handle the AA's, it should be able to handle the rechargeable without much fuss. basically, any electronic or performance upgrade will have more wear, but hey, if youre getting something good out of it too, its worth it.
