Normally we clip the hook off that spring, and just let it float there to maintain a little sideways pressure on the throttle shaft.

Hey, been a while, off doing other things for a few years..
Ever take out the idle set screw along with unlatching the spring for a lower idle and use the trim tab as a backup kill..
I have two motors that I've done that to..
