Default RE: i bought

ORIGINAL: alabamaflyer

i bought a used Goldberg Eagle 2. Ever since i got it, it has been nose heavy and i have to fly it with about 2/3 elevator trim nose up to get it to fly level. Because of that i have got into trouble with it a couple of times. it had 2.25 oz of weight on the nose which i removed and added thrust angle shims to the engine. i would like to know what i can do to fix the problem so i don't have to buy a new airplane. i have been flying since july and have used one gallon of fuel os i have not flown that much.

the covering is starting to rip and pill off so i clued it back down. i would like to know if it would be a good idea to recover it, and if so how do i take the plane apart to remove the covering. how do i remove the covering where i clued it down.
Flyer, I know zilch about this particular plane but along with balance issues I would be looking at incidences, and in particular the horizontal stab compared to the wing. Assuming it is a flat bottom wing a very easy check is this:
1. Mount the wing.
2. Get someone to help if needed, hold a long straight edge flat under the wing.
3. Make sure it extends over the horizontal stab (I'm assuming it's flat and non lifting) now measure, IF you find the front of the stab is LOWER than the back the plane will climb, if you find the front of the stab is HIGHER then the plane will dive (or require a bunch of up elevator to fly straight).

I once had a Telemaster 40 and made certain EVERYTHING , engine, wing, and stab were 0'd, also took out half the recommended dihiedral (SP) made for a fantastic fun flyer, it would run around on the ground at full throttle all day with the tail up until you fed in up elevator. When in the air it went where you pointed it and stayed there until you gave a different command
Best of luck, Dan Rickerd
