A trainer might fly just on 60W/lb - and you would want a big effecient prop to get as much thrust as you possibly can.
For a fun fly you probably want more around 100w-150w/lb. This means your little motor could probably handle birds in the vicinity of 1.5-2.5 lbs.
That motor is a bit inbetween - too fast for most direct drives setups, and too slow for a gearbox reduction. I've used a 2800kv motor for a flying wing (small pusher prop setup) to good effect - that was with 4s).
I'm guessing you can probably turn a 6x4 (maybe even a 7x5 on 2s) which will fly pretty well anything in the weight range - you just wont have as much thrust as you might want - so your plane will accelerate slowly.
