I would look at the color, smell it and maybe even taste it, just like a cop looking for cocaine.
Compare it to your fuel... if it seems like it might be ok, try a tank of it. You'll know right away if there's anything wrong with it. At about $20.00 a gallon, I would even retune to run free fuel, and a little extra smoke wouldn't hurt my feeling either, not for free !
