This is a question,
I thought a rear draft carb design was always a better choice?? or so I have been told. better fit and performance? Whay do you think?
It isn't where you mount the intake (or type of induction, for that matter), it's what you do with it. Reeds, disc valve or piston port can all work very well for our uses. The rear carb is easier to fit inside a narrow cowl if you have length to spare. Side carb works well if you have a wide cowl, but no length to work with. It's horses for courses in this respect. Nothing is ALWAYS a better choice because the questions are too varied and complicated.
