Something else. This plane is even tougher than I realized. Today while I was working on tuning the engine died on me several times and the plane just fell to the ground as far as 10-12 feet. Each time it just bounced on the landing gear and sat quietly. No damage. This is the toughest airframe I have ever seen. [8D]
That's nothing.. mine went straight in from over 100 feet when my Saito 100 caused a battery wire to fracture on a vertical downline.
It went in vertical, buried the engine so deep that all you could see was the occasional glint from the intake manifold.
Total damage:
The battery went through the front of the wing and took a bit of sheeting out.
Two bent pushrods and tubes on the Saito.
That's it!
It took 20 minutes to repair it well enough that you could never tell it had been smashed and it still flies today!
Tough just isn't the word!
