] I am a 57 year old disabled Viet Vet. I have just started building RC tanks. Its one of the few things I can do and receive any pleasure. I have had to ask for help on a couple of occasions, one was a good experience. The other I was made to feel stupid because I was asking for help in the wrong forum. Very good way to loose new members. I rode the back of an M48A3 in Viet Nam on a road sweep on highway one. I was able to spend some time talking to the TC he was the one who interested me in tanks. His tank was named "THOR" and had the war hammer carried by the Thunder God in Marvel comics. The tank took heavy fire during an ambush in operation "Durham Peak". As a Marine Grunt I was damn glad it was there, the tank and crew helped save a lot of us stright legs. Anyone knowing anything about them please let me know, so I can thank them and oh yea! please forgive us nubies who don't know the proper forum to go to. Were just trying to get help and learn to have some fun too.
Well I'm glad you didn't let the bad experience influence you too much. I personally think when new guys show up, the forum needs to give them some slack. Whether it be newbie questions or posting on the wrong section. For some, the whole forum experience may be new to them, and that alone can be intimidating enough. Start jumping on their back and suddenly it is not fun for them anymore.
I will say that the members of this forum have their hearts in the right place. A forum message can easily be mis-interpreted without the facial expressions and body language to go along with it, so you made the right choice to stick with us.
