Default RE: CYRODRIVE DISCUSSION THREAD

ORIGINAL: Drewed

I don't have a full drive system, so take that into account.

I do have the outer shaft and gear assembly. I found this to be way long and cut it down to my prefered stock +5mm size. I notice the at CF is about twice as thick as the cf tubing I get at my LHS. Assembly was a little bit of a pita as the tubing has no marking for where the lower head goes. It took a few tries to get it in the right place. First flight was limited as the tubing seemed to be rubbing on the innershaft. The motors got really hot. Second flight was better, and third was back to normal. I crashed on th 5th flight and go a really bad upper head wobble. I traced this to a bent outer shaft. How I bet the carbon fiber I don't know, but when I throttle up the outer shaft only you can see it wobble.
Wow, so you took half of the Cryodrive and modified it, so you took it upon yourself to reengineer the Cryodrive and wonder why it doesnt work... ok. When you buy the kit and follow the directions, you will have no problem putting all the parts where they belong, it isn't trial and error like we have here. It is possible to CRUSH the Cryocarbon. If you put the wrong parts on they have way bigger screws than needed and will crush the tube, causing it to crack and wobble. The shaft is not bent, it is cracked and flexing. If you put the drive together properly it wont bind and cause a load on the motors. Our kit comes with a gap gage tool for proper installation. Because you did not buy the drive system,(only replacement parts) ypu did not get the gage and directions. By your own admission of the inner shaft rubbing on the outer shaft proves you over tightened it.

Being that you didnt buy the whole drive means you didnt get the bearings that go with it, what did you put in?

Also.... what lower head were you using?

Remember folks, replacement parts are just that, replacement parts for the drive system. Do it yourself means that you know what you are doing!

Still waiting on a full review from Mpetrich.
