I'd say a great deal of this is just rumors. Sure big engines, any engines for that matter will seriously hurt you, but the 215 Moki radials I've seen have been absolute PU$$Y CATS to operate.
Absolutely no need for any extra equipment.
I'd say you've more chance of injuring yourself on a .46
Mind you s#it happens.
