Holy cow dude... You'd think they would leave some sort of notice or something so that you don't buy something while he's gone expecting it to show up in 2 days.
I feel your pain though... I haven't had anything quite that irritating happen but I've gotten close a couple times.
On the plus side, it's likely cold outside so you're not missing much.
