Hi TWTaylor,
Have just my received my Proline -what a glorious machine. Will be using my OS 140 in the model. Any tips for set up, throws, mixing, CG etc? Have been flying pattern for years, but always appreciate others experience or short cuts! I will use tail mounted servos, dropped into the tail root & servo arm protruding thru a slot -should look neat. Its a system I've used before & provides redundancy & a direct linkage.
I notice there is no flat at the rear of the fus-so what's the best way of mounting a tailwheel?
best regards

Hi Stuart
I don't recommend putting the servos in the tail. I've done them both ways and I suggest you use a single push rod system. My second one I did the twin servos in the stab and it moves the CG farther back than I cared for. It took enough weight in the nose to make the airplane near maximum weight. It still is legal weight wise but it's closer than I like. I can't tell the difference between the two airplanes in the elevator feel.
I doubt the OS1.40 will have the power to fly this one with authority.
I do recommend you add a vertical former that runs from the bottom of the fuse up to the crutch right at the leading edge of the stab. The one week area I've found with both of mine was in this area. What happens is the stab can rotate in the yaw axis because the fuse sides are not stiff enough in this area. Put the elev on and then grab the tips and try to move them in the yaw axis and you'll see what I mean, the stab rotates pretty far. It's a simple Mod to do, I used a long rod with a bolt glued in the end to screw this plate to so I could position it properly in the back of the fuse. Then I could unscrew the rod and take it out. Then glue the former in.
If I remember correctly I'm flying around 8 degrees of elev travel, all the rudder I could get and 12mm on the ailerons as measured at the tips. CG is 190 from the leading edge of the wing.
I have a spec sheet for cutting the holes for the rudder cables and the elev push rods holes. I'll send it to you if you'd like.
