I use RTV silicon sealant on the mating surfaces and bolt threads.

The brand i have is Permatex and is rated for high temps.

Give it at least 24 hours to cure and it works well. I've never had a a muffler come loose when using it on both 2 and 4 strokes including heli and gas motors
