Default RE: WHAT YEAR WILL AMA NO LONGER EXIST??

The AMA was around when the models were all C/L and free flight. The organization has evolved since the beginning, to one that's more political in nature. It had to be that way, to facilitate the preservation of frequencies on the 72 mhz band, giving a significant boost to the hobby. Contrary to popular opinion, the AMA does not oversee the hobby as a whole. If you are not a member, then you are not affected by the AMA's policies, which exist for insurance purposes. Should the AMA indeed kick the bucket, then we can all forget about our .40 sized planes (regardless of whether they're glow or electric!) and go the park foamie route, until enough soccer moms and Chuck Schumers decide the hobby isn't in the public's best interest. The AMA isn't going to give up on R/C any more than the NRA will on the right to own a hunting rifle.
