Default RE: is there a difference in Cy & Zen Engine?

ORIGINAL: Hairballusmaximus

The CY engines use a thinner chrome plateing in the cylinders and it does not hold up as well as the Zenoah. Z's also use a higher quality crank bearing. Porting is I think more agressive in the Z's because a stock CY23 is 2.5 hp and a stock Z 23 is 2.8 hp, Stock CY 26 is 2.8 hp and stock Z 26 is 3.0 hp.I think both eng mfg use the same carb walbro 603 I think. I have just had to replace the CY 23 in my Baja5b after 3 gals fuel due to cylinder being wiped out(combo of weak plateing flaking off and dirt ingestion, not sure which happened first) My buddies Baja's CY23 has 1 gal through it, no dirt ingestion as of yet but his is starting to have the plateing flake off also. He has already order a Zenoah and I will also be getting one soon to replace the CY.
What mix are you guys running and oil? I've got over 5 gallons through some CY's and have no cylinder plating wear. Sounds like maybe you're too lean or the oil/gas mixture is too lean.
