I just tried it wiht the bird right side up and on its back, I do not see an issue. When you have the nose gear in down and locked position, do you feel any movement if you wiggled the front gear? The locking point in the gear may not have been machined or matched properly.

I do not htink it is the cables as it is configured to colapse during the retraction process.
