I also smack the co-pilot in the back of the head when he/she says or does something stupid.
I was always amazed at how someone so well educated could be so stupid.
HA, the co-pilot's life, being so stupid! It always amazed me how a totally stupid individual (CP) one day when he leaves that right seat to move into the left seat (Capt.) could become INSTANT GENUIS!

BTDT!
I remember one of the big furloughs at UAL: sign on Bulletin Board -- "
For sale, One Captain's Hat size 15, Wanted to Buy, One First Officer's hat size 5
Up and down the seats was a way of life at UAL.
One year after High School, I entered the USAF Aviation Cadet program for Navigator training. Later to Bombardier training, then a couple years later, Pilot training. I served 12 years, 8 mo. and 18 days USAF, and managed to pick up a couple years college credits. Then I went for the easy money at UAL. Had to retire after 28 years there at age 60, Federal Law, just recently changed to 65. Been retired now 12 years. Now some management of investments in real estate, and play with toys. Never before been so busy while being so totally unproductive. [
