For brushless motors. Dont let the stuff get to you. Lets start with the battery to controller connection. Batteries come with all kinds of connections from JST to GWS to Deans. You need to standardize your connections so your charger to battery and other typical connections necessary are the same for your convenience. The larger red Deans type connectors seem to be the typical standard and overall best available, unless you are into the sub-micro very small stuff. The brand is expensive for what they are unless you go to somewhere like United Hobbies and you can buy a bunch for $5.00 $6.00. Not manufactured by Deans, but decent useable quality. You will have to learn to solder them on. Get one battery that comes with the dean connector so you have a example where to start. A adjustable wrench will hold the plug down and in place while you solder. Ok, here we go. Battery's red positive wire connects to congtroller red. Battery black to black on the controller, only two lines involved. Now 1/3 done. Next controller to moror. Again, do your self a favor and start with good connections. Get 2 to 4mm bullet connections same place as the Deans or what standard you are going to use, also cost effective. Simpliftys your life and allows interchange of motors and controllers without a lot of work. Yes, you can solder direct motor to controller, but i/m going to abuse you if you dont follow instruction. Female connections at the motor, male at controller wires, 3 on each. If you start out with Hacker equipment, the ends come on the motor and controller for you. NOw, I assume you are going to use Li-po, or A-123, or Nimh batteries and brushless motors. There is some very cost effective quipment out there that works very well for the price. If the motor runs backwards, change any two of the motor wires. If you used plugs, easy. If you hard wired, suffer. the 3 wires with the servo plug goes to the receiver battery imput for receiver power.


Ok, Brushed motors and related controllers are a little different. The battery red + and black - remains the same two wires. The wires from controller to motor are reduced to two. Color of wire to the motor only determine the direction the motor is going to turn. Trouble with RTF systems is each manufacturer has their own standards, following their directions for install is mandentory. Note that some have 5 servo wires, others 3, a standard type. Some have the receiver and controller intrigrated into one box, not user friendly to move to another airplane. If you do not have the manufacturers instructions, go to their web site and download the instrction manual. If not available there, the importer should have it available. Some manufacturers are smart enough to use standard equipment that may be used in other similar projects. Some quality stuff, some sub-standard.

If you are not now in a club, get into a local one, great people, and lots of needed help. If you can not go club, check with the local hobby shop for locations of the park flyers rebel bunch. Go, watch, take your gear and don't be shy in asking questions. The majority of the old guys enjoy helping the newby, usually a little more informed, so dont be shy with the older guys either. Most will search you out and offer help if you look lost. There is always a grump somewhere in the world, when found in the modeling faturnity, he is unusual, driven out of most typical clubs as unwelcome. Come back on line if you need more help.
