RE: SCARY PROBLEM WITH NEW AR9100
Mark -
I try to locate all my satellites so that they are at right angles to each other in all 3 axis - one with antennas oriented longitudinally, one with antennas laterally, and the third has antennas vertical. I usually have one satellite on the fuse floor, one on the fuse side, and one up in the nose, trying to keep away from any large metal or liquid (fuel) objects. So far so good, the frame loss and fade rate has always been between 0 and 20 (40 is the highest fade and/or frame loss count I've ever seen) and no holds in maybe 100 Spektrum AR9100 and AR9000/Spektrum 10X TX module flights to date (Boomerang XL and JL L39).
I've added a couple of steps to my range tests - in addition to the usual 360 degree rotating ground range test, I now have a helper pick up my jet and orient it so I check with the top and bottom of the jet facing the TX, just to make sure that at least one Rx 'sees' the signal in these attitudes. No problems so far.
