you will always land because you have no choice "what goes up must come down""take off is optional landing is manditory"just in what manner you land is the thing.
dont worry about landing until you have had a few flights with an instructor and you have had it eplained to you very well.
you will not be able to fly in your back yard unless you live on a farm with no trees also dont fly petrol aircraft in local parks or ovals as far as i know it is ilegal.
your best bet is to go down to a club and tell them what you want to do and ask thm what equptment you need to buy and have a good look around when you are there and make sure that you want to do it.
