Instead of an "orientation trainer" such as the cub, look at some of the alternatives.

Without ailerons, you'll be quite limited, and what you pick up will not translate well to other planes.

There are also many other alternatives.


Your best bet is to look for a local club, as most will offer free training sessions.

Often you can even use a club trainer, saving you the expense of a starter plane, and permitting you to graduate more quickly up to regular RC planes.
