My 2 cents:

YHR I believe you did a fine job relative to were your at today in regards to your growing artist skill vs the very difficult art of 120mm – 1/16 scale figure painting.

Words only go so far, pzrwest. The man offering a critique on a figure, I suppose should master his profession or at least be a student of the art, before offering an opinion.

A military uniform historian is only kinda of helpful, but offers no solutions on how to use a triple zero fine sable brush and how to get it steady and how to make it all happen in a good manner, etc, etc.

You seem to always leave that part out pzrwest. Can you paint a figure as well as YHR? Or better? Have you painted figures before? Why not show us your skill level?

pzrwest please consider: "There can be tension between constructive and useful criticism; for instance, a critic might usefully help an individual artist to recognize what is poor or slapdash in their body of work—but the critic may have to appear harsh and judgmental in order to state this. But useful criticism is a practical part of constructive criticism." So, I understand where your coming from, but suspect your qualifications to do so, a little bit.

In the narrow world of military figure painting you kinda have something to offer, pzrwest, but you would be taken more seriously if you actually presented some military figure work and dropped your neo nazi appearance to this community.

For sure, the cops would be pretty mean to you where I live in, if you appeared in public (like your image) and you know that too, ksoc.

The 1/1 scale nazi uniform is hated around the free world.

But, since your undocumented military figure painting skill is yet to be determined and if you have never used a triple zero sable brush to try and paint pink uniform piping, I suggest you tone it down and be less defensive and more positive. A professional critique starts with 3 sentances of what is good, if anything and then say what sucks.

And read some more pzrwest, there were many senior panzer officers on both German fronts commanding large units from tank cupolas including Waffen-SS Colonel Joachim Peiper in his Panther.

By the way, Peiper was murdered in a fire attack on his house on July 13, 1976, probable WWII pay back.

Good job YHR and keep at it. A model is an impression of reality and can take many style forms to achieve an illusion. True accuracy is not the most important aspect of producing a cool model and virtually impossible to do anyway. LOL
